Monolog / Seb

Hi jeff,

I subscribed you to the monolog team as developper. Welcome !
Therefore to solve your problem you can add an xml file in the archive directory in order to generate a new jar file which will contain all monolog classes that you want. I do not have the time to do this. It is a small contribution that you can do ? isn't it ? (10 minutes to do this)

I am tired to be alone to support Monolog ! Monolog is a project wanted by the architecture college. Monolog MUST BE SUPPORTED BY SEVERAL OBJECTWEB MEMBERS !!!! It is not a Seb's project ! You can contribute also.

best regards,
Seb
PS: Jeff, I am not especialy angry against you, simply Objectweb must assume its choice and you are an Objectweb members.

hi,

N'y aurait il pas là un problème de packaging dans monolog?

Ne serait il pas possible d'avoir un seul jar pour jonas
je sais que c'est une vieille demande qui n'est surement pas
acceptable...

I backup Philippe on that one.
We're using Monolog in JOTM. I'm currently changing the way we log to reflect changes in JOnAS (it makes log messages clearer and simpler to configure).

However, to do that, I need 4 jars files:
o log4j.jar
o ow_util_log_file.jar
o ow_util_log_wrp_log4j.jar
o ow_util_log_wrp_pw.jar

4 jar files in JOTM distribution are dedicated to logs (on a total of 11).
It seems to be too much just for logging (36%!!)...

So, I'd like to know if it would be possible to have only *one* Monolog jar file with everything. The size of the 3 files is more or less 38K with some duplicated classes. Of course, I can do that on my own in JOTM but I would prefer a general solution rather a fix suited for each and every project...

I understand that Seb has much more important work to do now.
But the thing is that there is nobody else inside or outside Monolog who's contributing to Monolog. So wouldn't it be more interesting to have a common logging framework which is actively supported, e.g. commons-logging[1] from Jakarta? Even it has some problems, wouldn't it be more interesting to contribute to that one so that it matches our concerns rather than duplicating efforts?

just want to be helpful,
jeff
