Re: [architecture] JSR 168/WSRP

Hello Denis

To my knowledge, ObjectWeb has not endorsed any of these standards

In my opinion both of them are *the* important ones for the portal
market

The Reference Implementation of JSR 168 is named Pluto, and I believe
is now part of JetSpeed 2 from Apache. It is a container approach,
where a portal component interacts with a portlet container, to get
the different fragments making up one page. Each fragment is generated
by a portlet class, whose life cycle is managed by the portlet container

Jetspeed 1 used to run without any modification on JOnAS.

WSRP is a different approach, since it allows to build complex
pages with fragments that has been built by Web services. If I got
it correctly, presentation data is given back by the Web Service
I mean for example HTML tags are inter mixed with data

Best regards
