Fwd: Re: O'Reilly Open Source Convention

Hi all,

we'll take advantage of the O'Reilly OSCon (Portland, OR, July 28th) to set-up a joint BOF session with Apache about the opportunities for collaboration between our two organizations. The formal "topic" is: "ASF, ObjectWeb and Other Java/J2EE Non-profit Communities: Fostering Collaboration and Maintaining Identities". This is not intended to be only a technical session: other way of working together can be addressed too.

The BOF is open to all. Join us if you can.
On any event, please send me your feedback, comments and suggestions so to prepare this session.

Thanks,

François,

This is great.  Thanks for doing this.  I'll see what other ASF projects are interested in participating and see how big of a 'mass' we can get.

Geir,

we got the BOF scheduled @ 8:00PM on Thursday 29th. I hope it's OK with your schedule.

As explained earlier, the description is only tentative. Feel free to suggest improvements.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Geir,

ObjectWeb will have a booth at O'Reilly OSCon -- and one of our members will give a talk there. I've seen that a couple of Apache/Geronimo folks will be there too.
9 months after the ApacheCon, we may seize this opportunity to set up a BOF on the cooperation between non-profit open-source communities (ASF & OW to begin with) on Java/J2EE projects.

Beside the fact that it'd be great to see you all again there, it may be great to make a status of the current collaboration between our two organizations and to see how we could tighten it in the future.

If you agree with this idea, I suggest that we choose a wide-enough BOF subject and submit it with two moderators (from ASF and OW).

This will be great.  This will force me to go to OSCon as well :)

Lets brainstorm on ideas for the BOF - it would be nice, as you suggest, to highlight how we're able to collaborate together while still maintaining the identity of the separate development communities.
