The theme this year is "MySQL Everywhere." Proposals should be focused on helping attendees:

Submitting Proposals

Keep in mind that proposals need not be works of art. A summary or abstract of the talk you plan to give is sufficient for consideration. We prefer outlines for tutorials. The proposal is what the conference committee uses to select speakers, so give enough information that the committee can tell what you'll be covering. We may request additional information about your proposal as necessary.

NOTE: All presenters whose talks are accepted will receive free registration at the conference. For each half-day tutorial, the presenter receives one night's accommodation and a limited travel allowance. Tutors are eligible for a travel allowance: up to US$300 from the west coast of the USA, up to US$500 from the east coast of the USA, up to US$800 from outside the USA.

Registration will open December 2004. If you would like an email notification when registration opens, please sign up here.

The deadline to submit a proposal is Midnight (PST), November 1, 2004.

Tracks and Topics

Each session should target one or more of the following Tracks and Topics:

Administration and Security

This track is focused on making DBAs more productive using command-line, GUI, and commercial tools to manage MySQL in production environments.
Topics:
Architecture and Technology

This is the in-depth technology track for advanced MySQL architects and developers. Focus is on giving advanced users the knowledge to fine-tune and extend MySQL for their environments.
Topics: Business and Case Studies

This track is for IT Managers and IT Architects who are responsible for implementing MySQL and open source technologies. Session leaders will share their experiences and best practices in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining their MySQL applications.
Topics: Data Warehouse and Data Marts

This track is for anyone who is considering using MySQL to implement Data Warehouse or Data Marts, emphasizing how the pluggable storage engine architecture of MySQL provides unique advantages to data warehouse implementations.
Topics: General

The General Track is for sessions that don't necessarily fall into other tracks. We welcome proposals on topics you feel would help attendees gain a deeper understanding of MySQL and make users more productive.
Topics could include: Java

This track will give Java developers an in-depth look at Connector/J, and Connector/MXJ, focusing on how to use and optimize MySQL performance in Java applications.
Topics: LAMP

This track is for anyone who is already using or considering making the open source LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python) stack a core component of their software infrastructure. How is the LAMP stack is being used to power massive websites while maintaining a cost-effective TCO?
Topics: MaxDB

Organizations rely on SAP R/3 for their business critical systems. This track will focus on using MaxDB as a cost-effective TCO replacement for high-cost proprietary databases in an SAP environment.
Topics: Migration

Many companies are now targeting their database infrastructure for the next round of cost savings using open source technology. This track delves into how to approach a migration project, what factors need to be considered, and which applications are best suited for migration to MySQL.
Topics: .NET

This track will give .NET and Mono developers an in-depth look at Connector/NET, in particular how to use and optimize MySQL performance in .NET and Mono applications.
Topics: Performance Tuning and Benchmarks

This track is for anyone who is interested in optimizing the performance of their MySQL databases. Focus is on design considerations and techniques for optimal performance and how to use open source database benchmarks suites (e.g. OSDL DBT2).
Topics: Scaling and High Availability

Delivering high-availability database applications can be challenging. These sessions present insights into successfully designing and implementing a high availability database infrastructure.
