Hi Guillaume,

The classloader isolation is a feature developed by the JORAM team (Serge Lacourte). This mechanism can be desactivated by using the system property -Dmonolog.isolateclassloader=false
Yep I tried with -Dmonolog.isolateClassloader=false, but nothing changed. Still no traces !

Could you try to specify this property and to see if the proccurs again. By this way we could isolate the problem.

In order to better understand, the problem you can activate the debug mode by specifying the system property
-Dmonolog.debug=true
OK
I'll send you the traces I get with a very simple JOnAS and monolog.debug.

Here are the traces :
http://jonas.pastebin.com/684510

JOnAS started with minimum services : registry(carol) and jmx. (isolateClassloader is set to true)

trace.properties activate carol traces (logger.org.objectweb.carol.level DEBUG)

Regards
Guillaume

In any case, it should be easy to reproduce that issue with a simple class that log a trace with commons-logging 1.0.4.

Guillaume

Best regards,
Seb

Hi Monolog team

In JOnAS 4.8, we have integrated the latest Monolog along with some other products (JORM, MEDOR, Speedo, Perseus, ...). With that new version of Monolog, carol traces never show up in the console !

We cannot control anymore carol traces from the trace.properties !

After some digging around, I found that carol, and all other projects (CMI, JOTM, ...) that are actually using commons-logging as their logging framework are affected.

There were some changes in monolog between 2.0 (in JOnAS 4.7.X) and 2.1.2 (JOnAS 4.8), nothing else changed (we're still using the same cmi, carol, jotm and commons-logging). Maybe that comes from the ClassLoader isolation feature introduced lately ?

Do you have any ideas ?

Regards
Guillaume
