Réf. : Re: [architecture] Re: [board] Re: [college] Speedo, JOnAS and ObjectWeb

Sorry for the previous mail

I understand that JOnAS will integrate Speedo ASAP (that's very good news) and I hope we'll keep people informed.
The issues highlighted by Pierre-Yves must be raised asap to College and Board. And we all should take some actions to reinforce our common vision.

So I suggest to College to prepare a proposal that I will be discussed by Board members. This proposal would specify what is needed to make OW persistence layer more successfull and what is expected from Community.

Roland thanks a lot for you initial input and feel free to contribute.

JPL.

What is JOnAS team advice ?
This message is co-signed JOnAS team and Speedo team.

BTW, what's the advice of the ObjectWeb board about this ? as it has already been asked for ...

My own opinion is, 100% in favor of it.

So if the Board votes something at least you've got my voice - and I would do my best to convince other people there that you took the right option.

Note that, if I didn't express any advice before, it is because we do not decide directly for the teams (Speedo depends on large contribs from France Telecom, and a large part of the JOnAS team relies on Bull) - so a formal agreement from the Board without the adhesion of the teams would have had little effect.

Now, I feel that the teams are committed, and I am really happy with that. Persistence is an issue and we do not control much Hibernate (I am also concerned with scalability concerning Hibernate, in fact...)

Any other advice ?

Regards,
Pierre-Yves Gibello - ExperLog
