[Apologies if you receive multiple copies] --------------------------------------------------------------------- IEEE GLOBECOM 2007, November 26-30, 2007 Washington, DC, USA http://www.ieee-globecom.org/2007/index.htm =============================================== = Wireless Networking Symposium = = Call for Papers = =============================================== == Symposium Co-chairs == Abbas Jamalipour (Univ. Sydney, Australia, a.jamalipour@xxxxxxxx) Dongmei Zhao (McMaster Univ., Canada, dzhao@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) Mario Marchese (Univ. Genoa, Italy, Mario.marchese@xxxxxxxx) Ekram Hossain (Univ. Manitoba, Canada, ekram@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) Wireless communication networks are expected to support multimedia services for mobile users anywhere, at any time, and in any situations. New radio access technologies and standards are emerging in order to meet the increasing demands of mobile user’s applications. Meanwhile, heterogeneous networks are interconnected and integrated for higher efficiency in utilizing the radio resources and better quality for serving mobile users. The objective of this symposium is to serve as an international forum for experts from academia and industry to exchange ideas and results about research, developments, standardization, and applications of current and future wireless communication networks. Prospective authors are invited to submit original contributions on all aspects in wireless networks, including, but not limited to the following topics of interest. Please note that this Symposium covers higher layers of the network protocol stack and therefore papers related to radio communications and physical layer should be submitted to other symposia of the IEEE Globecom2007 dedicated to the physical layer issues. == Topics in General Wireless Networks == - Access technology, network architecture, and emerging standards * 2G/2.5G/3G wireless networks * B3G/4G wireless networks * Mesh networks * Wireless local area networks * WiMAX networks * Ultra-wideband networks * Cognitive wireless networks * Reconfigurable wireless networks * Multimode wireless networks * Vehicular wireless networks * Protocols * Network architecture * Integration of heterogeneous wireless and wireline networks - Network design, resource management, and performance * Network planning * Capacity analysis * Quality-of-service provisioning * Radio resource management * Network performance analysis * Multimedia communications * Traffic modeling and traffic management * End-to-end protocols * MAC protocols * Access and admission control * Traffic scheduling * Flow control and congestion control * Mobility, handoff and location management * Cross-layer design and optimization * Power saving protocols * Pricing and billing - Experiments, applications, and standards * New wireless services and applications * Testbeds and deployment * Wireless network standardization activities == Special Topics in Satellite and Space Communications == - Internetworking, architecture, protocols and applications in satellite networks * PEP architectures and solutions * QoS-oriented solutions and emerging standards for DVB-S2, DVB-RCS, IP over satellite * Satellite dependent (SD) and satellite independent (SI) solutions and interfaces in satellite gateways * Satellite gateways optimization algorithms * Security in satellite and hybrid networks * New protocols for delay tolerant networks * Deep-space communication - Control and algorithms for satellite networks * Satellite network control and management * Control architectures and algorithms for satellite and heterogeneous internetworking * Control schemes for resource allocation over satellite channels * Power and bandwidth allocation solutions over satellite networks == Important Dates == * Paper submission deadline: March 15, 2007 * Notification of acceptance: July 1, 2007 * Camera-ready paper due: September 1, 2007 Paper submission guidelines and other important information are available on http://www.ieee-globecom.org/2007/index.html. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================================================ Dr Thierry GAYRAUD Assoc.
