Thank you very much for the suggestions. I set up my application to
connect to the virtual database through a db url of this kind:

jdbc:cjdbc://10.0.3.51:25322,10.0.3.52:25322,10.0.3.53:25322/virtualDB?driverProcessed=false

to enable the proxying mode.
No error shows up at the startup, and I can manage standard SQL
statements (such as "SELECT... FROM..." and "INSERT INTO...
VALUES(...)") successfully.
Anyway, the driver still rejects statements such as "INSERT INTO table
SET field1 = 'value1'" and "SHOW TABLES".
How can I figure out if the proxying mode is really enabled?
