Re: [c-jdbc] no checkpoint created when manually killing DB

I have noticed that no checkpoint is created the above incident occurs.
A checkpoint is created when you disable an instance using the graphical
admin tool.
But no checkpoint is created you kill a mysql instance (to replicate a down
db server),

is this a bug?

As far as I know, this is normal. Checkpoints are used for 'clean'
shutdown of backends (backups, transfers).

C-jdbc would have a hard time figuring-out the state of a crashed db.
That's the reason for having backups - and associated checkpoints.

In case of backend crash, the recovery procedure should be carried-out
carefully and manually from some previous 'clean' backup using the
restore function. So that you know what you are doing.
