DECOR'04 1st Francophone Conference On Software Deployment and (Re)Configuration october 28-29, 2004 in Grenoble, France Maison Jean Kunzman (Campus Universitaire de Saint Martin d'Hères) conference web site : http://decor.imag.fr (submission deadline : june 15, 2004)You are invited to submit a paper. All submissions should be written in French or English. Hereafter is the call for papers
Best regards On behalf the organisation committee Noureddine Belkhatir Call for papers - - DECOR'04 Presentation Software deployment deals with all the activities related to installation, update, reconfiguration, activation, deactivation, and removal of the software components. Large-scale software deployment requires effectiveness and coordination. The ubiquity of the Internet effectively eliminates the gap between software producers and consumers, mandating the need to deploy an application onto consumer hosts directly from the producer. Since the number of machines for a given producer is potentially large, automated support is necessary to identify and deploy the right software product for the consumer's needs. Consequently, it is necessary to take into account the organizational aspects of the producer's company, which makes it possible to define potential deployment strategies. It is also important to take into account the characteristics of each target machine (both hardware and software) and the technical aspects related to the deployment process support. Software deployment is becoming a hot topic in software engineering due, in large part, to the emerging popularity of component-based approaches. Although several approaches for deployment exist right now, the principles and concepts that underlie them are not completely investigated. The goal of DECOR' 2004 is to offer the researchers, teachers, engineers, industry members, and students an opportunity to discuss and assess the state of art in practice and research in the field of deployment and dynamic reconfiguration of software. For the deployment, the goal is to understand how automated support large-scale deployment can be achieved. This relates to the deployment of any form of software: legacy software, COTS, and component-based software. For reconfiguration, the goal is to understand what is the best way to extend component- based software systems to make them more amenable to dynamic reconfiguration. The topic of the conference is intended to be broad to attract participants from many communities. The objective is to offer participants the possibility to discover works-in- progress and to position their own work within this community. Submissions covering research, case studies, success stories with industrial experiments, and applications are welcome. Only original and non-published submissions will be considered. The authors of accepted publications will sign a copyright disclaimer before publication. Topics of interest include but are not restricted to: - Language and configurations tools, - Deployment and component-based software engineering, - Deployment applied to legacy systems, - Models and design patterns for deployment, - Assembly, packaging, and distribution, - Performances and safety aspects, - Case studies, successful stories, experiments, and - Dynamic reconfiguration/Adaptation. Paper submission Two types of submissions are possible: - Long papers (15 maximum pages) presenting the work led in the field; these will receive long presentations (30 minutes). - Short papers (5 maximum pages) presenting works-in-progress for which the results are not yet validated and that require a little more experimentation; these will receive short presentations (10 minutes). All submissions should be written in English or French. Send your submission following the instructions on the conference web page: http://decor.imag.fr/ An international program committee will review the submissions. We plan to publish an extended version of the best papers in a special issue of a francophone journal.
