Hi Francois,

Some interesting news about an impending debate at J1: http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/06/22/HNjavadebate_1.html

What’s OW’s opinion about this or there’s no need to have one as this is more a problem with the JCP and does not implicate the licensing of sun’s certification kit to open source consortiums like ObjectWeb?
To my opinion, the main inconsistency in Sun's position is the fact that they delegate reference implementations of java specs to open-source organizations (like Servlets/JSP to Apache/Jakarta, for example), but reject open-source for java itself.

They benefit of open-source effort with little counterpart !

Concerning certification, as far as it is related to java branding, they own it so their position is legitimate and consistent.
