Dear ObjectWeb Members, As you know we are preparing to switch to ObjectWeb V2 within the next few weeks. The good news is that OrientWare is prepared to merge with us in order to jointly create the new consortium. As a result, we are considering adopting a new name for the new organization. At the third OWV2 workshop, last Tuesday in Roma, we decided to launch a quick contest within the OW community. We have less than two weeks to find this new name! I know marketing and communication specialists will frown at such short notice, but that is the way it is. Here is the contest and its very simple rules: Deadline: Saturday November 18. Send anwsers to: v2-name-contest@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Constraints: New name should be short and punchy, 6-7 letters maximum, easy to pronounce in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and French. New name should of course have no offensive meaning in any language of the world. The .org should be available Answers format: 1) Name Proposal 2) Why this name: Meaning or Reference (explain in no more than two lines) 3) Your contact details Hints: New name could refer to "open source middleware" and/or "virtual computing environment". Prize: Fame is the reward. We will write a story about the the winner who will be given due credit on the consortium web site. At the moment, we intend to keep the same mesh logo and graphical identity. Only the name might change. Thank you for your participation! -- Cédric THOMAS On behalf of the ObjectWeb Organization
