Actually, might the EMBED tag do this?  It doesn't seem to be part of the
HTML spec so I'm not sure how widely it's supported, but it might be
acceptable.
Take a look at http://wp.netscape.com/assist/net_sites/embed_tag.html for
some examples, or try googling it.
