Hi, I don't know any open source java framework dealing with MS Word directly. As long as you need to read and write Excel, Jakarta POI is a good solution. AFAIK Jakarta POI has plans to support Word too, but that seems to be in early stages, not ready for production usage. Another idea for handling Word documents is the usage of OpenOffice. You can run OpenOffice in a server mode and use an API to process the documents. The OO SDK will help (http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sdk/). Since OO has filters for reading and writing Word docs, this should do the job.
