RE: S

some precisions:
- ASM 2.0 API is not compatible with ASM 1.5.x API. So in order to avoid conflicts it is indeed important to use the same version family (1.5.x or 2.x).
- When I said that ASM 2.0 has builtin Java 5 support, I wanted to say that ASM 2.0 API has visitor interfaces for all Java 5 class features (in ASM 1.5 Java 5 features are also supported, but not through a visitor pattern). But all ASM versions can run on *any* JDK, from JDK1.1.

Would it be fair to say that JOnAS will likely to use ASM 2.0 in the future?

Yes for JOnAS 5, but if we decide to use ASM for a JOnAS 4.x version we will have to use a previous ASM version as we need to keep Java 4 support for JOnAS 4.
Actually, since we still have mantaine the cross app server compatibilities, the main concern would be if different version of ASM in JOnAS and particular WebApp would cause any conflict?
You are right, we will have to be careful with that.
