Just for information to all Enhydra Server users:

 

Enhydra 5.2-2 will probably be the last maintenance release of Enhydra 5.x. It is now fully upward / downward compatible to the upcoming Enhydra 6.2-2 release and contains the same version of all components (DODS, XMLC,...).

 

Enhydra 6.2-2 will be the first release based on Tomcat 5.5.7 + EAF 6.2-2 and by this way will support latest servlet specs. EAF 6.2-2 now supports full management via JMX. A new JMX based admin application will be included in Enhydra 6.2-2.

 

Director 6.2-2 now also supports native Tomcat 5.0 / 5.5 with new Tomcat connectors and connections to Jetty. This way Director (which now has a lot more features than Apache mod_jk by the way !) can also be used with JOnAS and other J2EE containers using Tomcat 5.0/5.5 or Jetty in addition to Enhydra 6.2.

 

Enhydra Kelp 5.2-2 will also probably be the last maintenance release in the 5.x series. Enhydra 6.2-2 will include the Enhydra IDE which is a pre-packaged Eclipse+Kelp+... bundle.

 

Feedback from migrations of projects to Enhydra 6.2 would be very welcome ! Give the new otter a try :-)

What's new in Enhydra 5.2-2

 

 - DODS release 6.2-2 is included in this release.

 

 - Octopus maintenance - release 3.2-2 is included in this release.

 

 - Enhydra Director maintenance - release 6.2-2 is included in this release.

 

 - XMLC - version 2.2.6 is included in this release.

 

 - Enhydra Demo applications:

 

    AirSent - fixed problems with request header matching

 

    Chat - fixed problems with early script execution.

 

 - Implemented 'StandardApplication' session initialization before first application request redirection.

 

 - Removed existing SessionManager parameter - 'SessionEncodeRandomParameter' (Peter Stehlik patch).

 

 - Implemented new SessionManager parameter - 'SessionEncodeFirsUrl'. Parameter indicates whether to (session) encode default application url ('Application.DefaultUrl' parameter in application configuration file) or not. This is optional parameter with default value set to false.

 

 - Parameter helps to preserve initial application session during first request redirection when the URL based session tracking is used (i.e. either cookies are disabled or the "SessionEncodeUrlState" is set to "Always" in the application configuration file) - bug reported by Peter Stehlik.

 

 - Included patch - adapted 'StandardSessionManager.deleteSession(sessionKey )' method to allow deletion of passive (not just active) sessions. Thanks to Michael Strapp.
