[jonas] Unix daemon?

Yes JOnAS can have some advantages from Enhydra Enterprise,
IMO... Also the Enhydra Tray is a very nice thing. Under
Windows you have a "Tray Icon" to control EE - start, stop,
execute the applications, etc.

Therefore I prefer to use Enhydra Enterprise which is after all based on JOnAS (Tomcat or Jetty) with *very good* value added things like:
- Enhydra Service Wrapper (Windows service, Unix daemon)
- Enhydra Tray
- Enhydra Director (very easy to use load balancer)
- Enhydra IDE
- Enhydra Programming Model (EJOSA)

Maybe JOnAS Team can meet Enhydra Team to talk about this :-)

I reply this email to Enhydra Mailinglist as well...

Title: [jonas] Unix daemon?
Lofi,

why not doing a backport of these nice things into the original JOnAS distribution for those who do not want to install Enhydra?

Hi Markus and all,

if you are using Enhydra Enterprise (based on JOnAS-Tomcat or
JOnAS-Jetty) you have an InstallShield installer and you'll get
an Enhydra Java Service Wrapper which can be directly used to
install EE (JOnAS) as NT Service or UNIX Daemon.

Here is the project Java Service Wrapper:
http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/introduction.html

Again, in EE you have this automatically installed for you,
so installing JOnAS-Tomcat as NT Service or Unix Daemon is
very easy!

Cheers,
