Re: [enhydra] Enhydra Server Help !!

Hi Nunny,

the advantages are numerous!

I will try point out just some of them:

Enhydra 6.x is based on new (basically unchanged) Tomcat releases which brings you Servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0 specification support, numerous configuration features (services, realms, connectors, ...), administrative and management tools, etc. As addition to Enhydra Director, it comes with Apache 2.0 plugin (Enhydra Conductor - MOD JK).

We have stopped development of Enhydra 5! Therefore, only Enhydra 6.x gets new releases with bug fixes, constantly upgraded feature list, updated tool binaries (EAF, Enhydra Demos, DODS, Director, Conductor, XMLC, Axis, ...), etc.

On the other hand, EAF (Enhydra Application Framework) is now separated from Enhydra Server and has become independent ('Objectweb') project. It is integrated in Enhydra Server just as another Enhydra tool (set of binaries with documentation) and basically can be ported to servlet container of your choice.

Enhydra applications (in Enhydra 6.x server) are deployed in standard web application manner (as WAR files) - the way they can be deployed in (basically) any other servlet container (Tomcat, Jetty, JOnAS, JBoss, ...). The only thing you have to do is to adapt some parts of application configuration (for servlet container specifics - change logging adapter and/or datasource definition manner).

Therefore, if you are able to deploy your enhydra application in Enhydra 6.x Server you should be able to deploy it in servlet container of your choice (this was our goal with EAF separation).

Hope that this is enough to make you consider your migration to latest Enhydra Server version :)

Can anyone familiar with Enhydra brief me with what are the advance features available in 6.5 compared to Enhydra 5.0. What I want is what are the advantages we get from going to 6.5 from 5.0 . Still learning the basics of Enhydra server so please parden
