Re: [jawe] Advanced Workflow Patterns

Hi,

All of these patterns (except "Implicit termination") are not supported by XPDL (you can read about it in http://tmitwww.tm.tue.nl/research/patterns/download/ce-xpdl.pdf).

Regarding "Implicit termination" pattern, it says:

" ... As a result it is possible to have multiple activities without input transitions (i.e., source activities) and multiple activities without output transitions (sink activities). The latter suggests direct support for WP11..."

It is possible in JaWE to create several activities without output transitions. In JaWE it is curently modeled by connecting such activities to End bubbles.
Connecting enging activities to End bubbles is only graphical connecting, because activities that are connected to End bubbles are saved in XPDL as the one without any outgoing transition.
There has been discussion regarding End bubbles with the guys from WfmOpen, and in the next JaWE release we'll remove Start and End bubbles completely (they are only used to force user when creating XPDL to mark the Start and End points, and do not have any logical meaning).

Regards,
Sasa.

Hi,

I think that JaWE supports the patterns that are supported by XPDL (i.e. pattern 8, 9, ... are not supported).
Can you tell me which patterns you think JaWE does not support (and they are generally supported by XPDL) ?

Hi Sasa,

How we can represent Workflow Patterns explained by Aalst, W.M.P. van der, in XPDL.
I think JAWE doesn't support all the patterns, is there any plan to do so.

Vaibhav P
