yes exposing (possible) issues was exactly what I was doing - so thanks
for taking my comments into account in such a timely manner!

I know we've all been waiting too long for ObjectWeb v2 but skipping some
important steps so to save a few days now does not seem appropriate to me
- and let me explain why.

I would agree on a process based on (implicit) consensus if we were
dealing with a routine action in the life of ObjectWeb. However the
inception of v2 is not a routine action. It is arguably the most
important event in the life of ObjectWeb since the creation of the
consortium in 2002.

This gives us an opportunity to send strong signals: let the current
board and future members express a clear statement about OWv2 (not as a
concept, but as an actual entity) on an informed basis; make sure
everybody is on the same page about the new foundations; and demonstrate
that all participants are willing to abide by the rules they define
themselves.

I think we should not miss these opportunities. They are important to
convey a message of continuity between OW and the association. This is
why I remain in favor of a more formal information and approval
process.
