Binding: Performance?

So the question of the day is what is the impact and neccessity for
speed in /class generation/ in data binding? In other words, to what
degree is the quickness by which a schema, or DTD, or something else,
cane be turned into interfaces and impl classes, important? Is it not at
all important (which I actually suspect is the case), somewhat
important, critical?

It seems the most common use would desire performance on marshalling and
unmarshalling, but not neccessarily on class generation. Am I right? If
I am, and you (few) confirm it, than I will lay out what I see as the
plan for action here. There's method to my madness, really there is!

Thanks,
Brett
